SERVICES AND PROGRAMS

SUPPORTED ACCOMMODATION & CARE

4U Foundation delivers housing services and accommodation, supported and unsupported for young people at risk of homelessness, and or physical and emotional harm. The program aims to transition young people from “At Risk” living situations into independent living, providing wrap around supports underpinned by Trauma Informed approach.

We support young people with living skills, personal development skills, educational assistance, connecting with medical and health practitioners and services, attending health and medical appointments, gaining a drivers licence, employment assistance and job training assistance. By providing these services, young people at risk of homelessness are more resilient to avoiding it and finding the pathways to independence, or for those who experience homelessness, these skills reduce recurrence once they’re in a stable home.

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

4U Foundation is committed to strengthening community by empowering young people, improving their health and well-being and engagement with education. We deliver education within and beyond the classroom, into the community through partnerships and events that give kids and their family’s opportunities to demonstrate and celebrate their dedication to living healthy and productive lives.

4u Foundations principal target group is at-risk young people aged 10 to 25. This group will ordinarily be coping with the issues including:

• Parent and adolescent relationship issues

• Family conflict, dysfunction or separation

• Neglect

• Homelessness

• Domestic violence

• Drug and alcohol abuse and addiction

• Sexual, physical or emotional abuse

• Grief and loss

• Self-harm or suicidal ideation

• Bullying

• Gender and sexual identity

• Low self-esteem

Recognising that at-risk young people have diverse needs and multiple problems, 4U Foundation programs take a holistic approach to dealing with a wide range of issues, with a focus on strengths and well-being. School attendance, engagement, good behaviour, completion of secondary education, work readiness and awareness of opportunities are some of the many outcomes 4U Foundation focus on improving.

Although the principal target group is at risk young people, any young person may attend the program to increase their self-awareness, self-worth or to help others. In fact, the crossing of experiences is a valuable learning tool for all participants. Programs and services for young people include:

• Theatre in Education

• Mentoring

• Strengthening Aboriginal Health

• Learning Clubs

• Alcohol and other drugs

We create an environment where children feel understood, validated, and supported in their journey of life.

EMPLOYMENT

4u Foundation provides a suite of employment and training programs that upskill, uplift and develop young people, and directly connects them to employment opportunities.

The purpose of the program is to create and improve economic participation and independence for young people. The programs success is based on 4U Foundations wrap around approach that supports and develops work readiness, connects with families, provides peer support and mentoring, provides mental health support connecting with external providers, provides bespoke accredited training and employment opportunities in a culturally safe environment.

NDIS SERVICES

• Social & Community Participation Support

Specialising in working with young people, our team of support workers partner with participants to help them become actively involved in the things that give them satisfaction and meaning.

4U Foundation is genuinely interested in helping participants understand their NDIS plan and how to get the best value from it. We work with participants to design a personalised service that enables them to be active in their community, matching participants with the support worker best suited to their needs and personality.

We assist participants with:

• Being involved in community activities

• Getting out and about

• Sport and exercise

• Using technology

• Outings and holidays

• Cleaning, Gardening and Maintenance

4U Foundation believes everyone deserves to live in a clean, tidy space. Sometimes an individual’s personal situation can be a barrier to that through no fault of their own. 4U Foundation offers NDIS Cleaning and Maintenance Support to help participants with tasks around their home such as:

• Light cleaning

• Laundry

• Gardening/yard work

• Lawnmowing

• Cooking and food preparation

• House and yard maintenance such as minor repairs

• Other general chores

The 4U Foundation team is committed to providing a reliable and discreet presence in participants homes, helping to create a safe and comfortable space to live in.

• Independent Living Support

Living with a disability doesn’t mean having to give up one’s independence. 4U Foundation understands the importance of gaining or maintaining an independent existence. 4u Foundation helps participants who are making the transition from care or group homes into an independent living situation, as well as providing support to people who are already living independently in their own home.

4U provide individualised solutions, including:

• Transport services to run errands or attend appointments;

• Help around the home, such as cleaning or gardening;

• Meal preparation; and

• Other specialised services tailored to the individual.
